22 Dec
2007 The
weekend of
December 22nd
2007 brought
Hunter Budd
and
Tyler
Sudderth’
to Badlands
for some
cold action
at the
series call
Frost Bite.
I say cold
because the
wind was
blowing a
constant 40
MPH and the
temp was
falling like
a 1st
grader on a
hobby horse.
When I say
cold I mean
to the bone.
The wind
kept most
riders from
busting out
the big
jumps; some
that tried
got a little
surprise
once
airborne.
Tyler got a
little
sideways and
ended up
visiting
with a few
highly
trained
medical
staff which
cost him a
full race.
He did come
back to race
the rest,
but was
certainly
more down to
earth if you
know what I
mean. Hunter
played it
safe and
controlled
his
shivering
well enough
to gather in
a 1st
in the 50
Open and a 2nd
in the 50
7-8. Tyler
still pulled
it together
for the win
in the 50
7-8 class
and had some
real strong
rides on his
65 with some
fun battles
with Zane
Merritt. In
all Garth at
Badlands MX
park did a
super job
keeping the
fans warm
with heated
concession
stand and
burn barrels
all around.
So we closed
the trailer
with first
and second
in both 50
classes and
a big frozen
smile, and
just think
Santa flies
around in
that kind of
stuff all
the time.
20 Dec
2007 Well
it’s
Christmas
time in the
land of the
lone Star.
Things have
been going
full steam
for King
Cobra of
Texas riders
and parents
alike. I
spent 2 days
with the
Cobra
factory guys
learning
about the
new changes
for the 08’
models and I
must say
there are
some great
performance
changes in
store for
both the
CX50SR and
the CX65.
More power
smoother and
in the right
place is
what’s in
store for
Cobra. The
CX65 is the
most
changed,
with new
cases,
cylinder,
pipe and
shifting.
These are
exciting
times for
our riders
and the
opportunities
to ride the
best bikes
available.
We’ve tried
to get out
and race a
few times,
but Mother
Nature is in
full
football
weather mode
and for
right now we
just have to
sit on the
side lines
till she
fumbles.
Turkey bowl
rained out,
Frost bit
froze out
and the
blizzard
well it was
just cold
out, so we
wait, but I
hear not for
long. If the
weather
holds we
should have
some good
racing this
weekend, but
we’ll have
to see.
On another
exciting
front is
sponsorship,
We’ve
managed to
keep our 07’
riders with
us,
Hunter Budd
will be
on his
CX50SR and
CX65 racing
the most
with a mix
of AX, MX,
and off
road, we’re
super
excited for
Hunter and
the plans he
has for the
year. Next
up is
Tyler
Sudderth’,
Tyler will
be running
MX for the
year on his
Cobra
CX50SR, he’s
got some
great
support and
will be in
the mix
headed to
some
nationals
this season.
In the 4-6 –
O/I class
we’ll have
Justice
Hayes,
this kids
got skills
and loves to
show the
track he’s
boss.
Justice is
excited to
begin the
New Year and
a new series
and we’re
happy to
have him.
New to the
king Cobra
of Texas
team is
Ryan Fessler,
a Cobra
rider from
down south
riding both
the CX50SR
and the
CX65, we
first saw
Ryan at
Badlands
during the
Night
Nationals
where he put
on a show
fighting for
every place
he could,
the records
show he got
3rd overall,
but trust me
it could
have been
higher. Ryan
is a fighter
on the
track, fun
to watch for
sure. He
will be
racing MX
mostly with
a mix of
other events
to keep it
interesting.
We’re
working on
Mathew
Mehary
right now to
stay and
show case
the Cobra
65, but he’s
a tough
negotiator
so we’ll
just keep at
him till he
breaks. We
have 2 other
support
riders,
Kevin
Fessler and
Jason
Norman, both
loves the
sport and
both are fun
kids to have
around the
track. Kevin
is a high
energy racer
on the
CX50JR, he’s
always
working for
the checkers
and we’re
excite to
help him get
there,
brother to
Ryan he’s
more the PR
guy for the
Fessler
family.
First time
I meet Kevin
he managed
to talk me
out of a 3
musketeer
bar in less
then 2
minutes so
he’s going
to be a real
team agent
for sure.
Jason is
anther rider
who’s been
on the
learning
end, of
course he’s
already
learned how
to win
taking the
TORN 50AM
championship
already,
he’s always
up to the
challenge
and he’ll
have to be
because next
year he’s
going to
race INT in
the 50 off
road class.
Good luck to
all our
riders, King
Cobra of
Texas could
not be
happier with
the group we
have
representing
our shop,
great kids
doing great
things on
the track!
Remember
50cc
parents, not
every rider
can be the
next
Carmichael,
but they
should all
feel that
way on and
off the
track, it’s
more about
family time
in the world
of the 50
and 65
bikes. So
make it
challenging
and keep it
fun, thanks
to all that
have helped
us make our
shop better
this year,
and we
pledge to do
all we can
to make your
50 and 65
experience
more
enjoyable.
Happy
holidays and
remember
“He’s the
reason for
the season”
God bless
and God
Speed!
Dec 5
2007
Winter has
arrived in
Texas
and so has
the 8th
annual
Texas
Winter
series
taking our
riders to
some of the
best tracks
Texas
has to
offer. The
series
kicked off
at the now
famous
Freestone
Country
Raceway. The
turn out for
the 50
classes were
great, lots
of good kids
and a ton or
two of
talented
riders.
Justice
Hayes (Cob
808) was in
the mix and
had some
exciting
races this
weekend.
With a 2nd
overall in
the 4-6
injected
class and a
4th
overall in
the 4-6
class
Justice was
able to put
in Cobra O/I
in the mix
against some
bigger kids
and bigger
bikes. Good
job Justice
and thanks
for giving
it your all
every time
you’re on
the track.
In the 7-8
class and
the open 50
the racing
proved to be
just as fun
to watch
with Tyler
Sudderth’
(Cob 317) up
against some
real
national
talent and
proving he
ready for
the next
step in his
riding.
Tyler was
able to dog
fight with
Challen
Tennant (Cob
71) for some
intense
battles and
received a 2nd
overall in
both
classes.
With 15 or
more riders
Tyler proved
again he’s
got the good
and we look
forward to
his effort
to make some
national
races this
next year.
In a side
note: Cobra
rider and
recent
graduate of
the 50 class
Austin
Forkner
placed his
Cobra 65 on
the top box
with a 1-1
in the 65
7-9 class
and a very
impressive
ride to 4th
in the 65
open against
more senior
riders.
Congratulation
Austin we
miss your
being in the
50 classes,
but sure
glad you
stayed with
Cobra for
the 65
class.
Nov 14 2007
The past few
weekends has
offered up some
of the most
impressive races
king Cobra of
Texas has
seen in a while.
The
holeshot
adventures begun
last weekend
with the Pro
Circuit coming
to Village Creek
MX Park.
Hunter
and Tyler were
both on hand to
show case the
Cobra bikes
ability to blow
away the
competition.
Hunter was on
his game and
really feeling
the day track
out.
Hunter Budd
had the
holeshots
and the wins on
the day with
Tyler Sudderth
hot on his heals
keeping Hunter
honest and
really ramping
up the
excitement for
the crowd.
Congratulation
go out to Hunter
Budd (Cob 399)
in the 50 class
for a run away
weekend and
certainly to
Tyler Sudderth’
who made up for
the bad luck in
the 50 class
(Flat tire) with
a hard charge in
the 65 class.
Tyler was able
to stay hard on
the heals
with the front
runners in the
65 class showing
again his
development is
on track.
This
weekends
action had Tyler
and
Justice
taking it to the
Freestone
national track
at the
Texas
Championship
race. Both riders
had respectable
races showing
their continued
improvement.
Justice was
strong in the
O/I class
finishing an
impressive 2nd
overall backing
that with a 5th
overall in the
4/6 Jr class
stacked with
some real
talent. justice
is on pace to be
a top runner in
Texas and
maybe nationally
if they choose
that path. Tyler
Sudderth had his
hands full with
a stacked field
of riders,
Forkner,
Belding, Tennent,
Hairston were
exceptional
strong and the
pace was a
tornado whirl
wind. Tyler was
able to mount a
2 5th place
finishes in 51cc
7-8 stock for a
6th overall.
Also in the 51cc
open the start
was the finish
with rider
running out the
same spot in
both motos,
Tyler finished
with a 4 - 4 for
a 4th overall.
Congratulations
to both riders
for some good
finishes against
some of the
nations best.
This weekend we
have Swan coming
up, both the
Lone Star state
championship and
the Lone Star
night series.
Hunter and Tyler
will be in the
mix and we're
going to be
looking for some
holeshots and
wins from the
King Cobra crew.
Great Texas
Style Racing!

Wow has it been
a crazy few
weeks since the
Full Moon
series, we
thought things
would slow down,
but it would
seem no such
luck. Lots of
racing here in
Texas and
when you love to
be where the
action is then
you do what you
can to be there.
So we have been
around a few
tracks and I
need to get us
up dated so here
is the low down.
After the Full
Moon wrapped up
the following
weekend
Hunter Budd (Cob
399) and
Justice Hayes
(Cob 808)
headed to
Whitney for a
challenge on the
big track both
had some good
rides and really
enjoyed the
track. Hunter
came out with a
3rd
overall on both
the 50cc 7-8 and
Open, and
Justice put in 2
solid rides even
though his
placing didn’t
reflect how well
he rode because
of a few lay
downs.
The following
weekend King
Cobra of
Texas
headed to Swan
for the Pro
Challenge and
Lonestar race,
both proved to
be fun and
exciting with
Hunter and Tyler
stilling the
show and all the
wins, it came
down to who got
the start and
Tyler proved how
strong he can be
on the gate.
Both Hunter and
Tyler rode great
in both series,
and it was some
good training
for Tyler who
had some big
plans coming up
the following
weekend at
Branson
Nationals.
The following
week would be
packed with
racing, Tyler in
Branson and
Hunter in
Texas
taking on the
TORN riders in
both the 50 and
65 class. In
Branson the
racing began
on Thursday
with divisionals
for both the
65cc 7-9 stock
and the 50cc 7-8
stock. Tyler
put in some
strong rides
finishing well
and making the
cut in both
classes. Friday
Tyler had the 50
Mod class and
was able to make
the cut also
despite having
some motor
issues. Coming
out of Branson
with Saturday
and Sunday races
Tyler rode well
and finished
well against
some real top
riders. We’re
super proud of
his performance
and how well he
rode, he’s gets
better every
time he puts it
on the track.
Hunter ran
upfront at the
TORN race in
Denton he
struggle with
starts and
lapper and fell
back to 2nd
place in the 50
Expert class,
while the 65cc
INT class has
some good
riders, it was
the 43 rider in
the Expert class
that gave Hunter
the most
trouble. Once
they came in to
lap him he
blocked at every
corner when the
guys racing were
not even in his
class. After
getting by the
slow rider,
hunter tried to
put his head
down and move up
to the front
finishing just
seconds of the
podium, it made
for some good
training so
maybe next time.
Which brings me
to the Night
National this
past weekend and
some real
exciting racing
at
badlands MX
Park. Hunter and
Tyler were on
hand to race for
King Cobra of
Texas and
they sure put on
a show. While
Tyler Sudderth’
(Cob 317)
owned the front
spot after a few
battles with Cob
66 rider,
Hunter (COB 399)
had his work cut
out to get a 2nd
overall in both
the 50SR and 50
Open. Both
Riders put good
riders and both
had a Moto win
or 2. Congrates
to Tyler for
taking the
number one plate
for the NNRA
this year with
some super fun
racing.
The following
day Hunter and
Tyler rode at
badlands MX in
the Lonestar
series for
another 1st
and 2nd
for Tyler and
Hunter
respectively.
Good racing and
the series is
coming to a
close.
We hope to have
a down weekend
to recover and
unwind but I’m
sure we’ll find
something.
“THIS JUST IN”
KING COBRA of
TEXAS
SWEEP THE FULL
MOON SERIES!!!

(click to
September 26,
2007 In my
hast and
Christmas like
joy after our
riders sweeping
the Full moon
series I forgot
to talk about
the individual
achievements of
our riders. So
I’d like to take
a moment to
write a brief
summery of our
riders and how
the Full moon
series come
together for
them. First out
would be Tyler
Sudderth’ taking
a commanding 1st
in the 50 7-8
and 1st
in the 50 Open.
With out a doubt
Tyler was class
in the field
with 11 of the
possible 16
overalls placing
himself in the
top overall slot
for both classes
with a point’s
lead that would
not be countered
or even
scratched. Next
up would be
Mathew Mehary
our senior ride
who has now
moved on to
65cc’s full
time, Mathew
while only
running the 50cc
7-8 class
managed to keep
a consistent 2nd
overall
throughout the
series while
taking a well
deserved 1st
in the sands of
Athens. Hunter
Budd would also
stand apart from
the other
riders, taking a
2nd
overall in the
50cc open and 3rd
overall in the
50 7-8 class.
Hunter put
together 4 total
wins coming on
strong late in
the series.
Tracks that
would lend to
his style came
just in time for
Hunter to shine
a bit as well.
Lastly Justice
Hayes after
missing the
first round and
choosing to
attend Cycle
ranch was able
to mount a
charge in the
50cc 4-6 and the
50cc O/I class
finishing with a
1st
overall in the
O/I class and a
fan favorite 2nd
overall in the
50cc 4-6 class.
With 6 wins in
the 50cc O/I
class he was
able to maintain
a respectable
lead. It was in
the 50cc 4-6
class that most
of his work had
to be done, and
Justice was up
to the
challenge,
staying
consistent and
finishing well.
Without a second
thought we could
not be more
proud of the
guys and how
they took to the
track and showed
the competition
what they had.
Backed by King
Cobra of Texas
and the great
parents they
were able to
shine. Even
though this
would be a team
effort, each
racer stood
apart from the
other in their
own special way.
Now if I could
just find a way
to take from
each rider and
make one we’d
win everything,
look out
Loretta’s here
we come!!
September 22,
2007 brought
the KCoT team to
the last of the
8th
annual Texas
Full Moon
series. This
event has been
growing in
popularity and
has become a
back bone series
for Texas . We
as a team went
into this series
with one goal in
mind, and that
was to win. Well
the guys put
together one of
the best series
of racing North
Texas has seen.
At any race it
could be anyone
of our riders,
With the speed
Tyler Sudderth’
has, matched
with the talent
Mathew Mehary
has and topped
of with some
masterful
cornering by
Hunter Budd
we had this one
in the bag from
the get go. With
8 races in the
series each
rider posted
wins and showed
why they ride
the best bikes.
We couldn’t be
more proud of
how well they
fought and rode
for our shop.
Justice Hayes
was a new
addition to the
King Cobra of
Texas family and
this little guy
fills in the gap
we had for the
4-6 class with
style. Justice
took it to the
class and showed
what he had,
taking the win
with a cobra
sweep added by
Riley Allen and
Riley Childers
both top notch
up and comers
but it was
Justice who
socked away the
wins like a
squirrel in fall
taking the
overall series
first place in
the O/I and a
hard fought 2nd
in the 50cc 4-6
class with Nick
Thomas taking
the top honors
with some great
riding aboard
his KTM.
I’d like to take
a moment to
thank the riders
and the Moms and
Dads that make
all this
possible.
Without the hard
work and
dedication to
this sport our
race team going
1-2-3 in the 50
class would have
been allot less
likely if not
impossible. The
credit goes to
the parents for
sure, as we see
the riders grow
it helps justify
why we spend
hours at the
track training,
tons of hard
earned money and
gallons of
sweat. The faces
on the kids
after the wins,
the joy they get
just playing
around waiting
for the next
time they get to
challenge their
friend for the
lead show me
that it’s not
all wasted time.
As Mathew who
aged out this
last race moves
on we wish him
bigger and
better things,
he’s got a ton
of natural
talent and
everyone loves
to see him ride
with his jumpy
style so keep it
up Mathew and
thanks for
making our time
with you as a
racer for King
Cobra of Texas
so much fun.
So we move on to
the next race,
to the next
place for the
kids to take it
to the track,
this weekend it
will be the time
honored place of
Whitney MX Park,
just a fun race,
no real gold at
the end of the
rainbow but hey
try to tell
these kids that!
Sept 18 2007
Sept 14, This
weekend a
portion of the
King Cobra of
Texas crew went
to the
TORN
cross country
race and were
blessed with
great weather, a
great track and
some great
racing. We could
have gone to
Swan or Nocona,
but I decided to
race with the
weather being so
good and TORN
racing at Boyd.
Hunter
raced the 50
class and had it
well under
control from the
drop of the
flag, turning in
some solid lap
times and
setting a very
strong pace. In
6 laps he
mastered the
track and put
his Cobra on top
for another win,
now we are just
a few points
behind, and need
to finish up
front in the
last 2 races.
Hunter and Jason
both raced the
65cc class the
following day
and both posted
some very
respectable
finishes in
their class.
Both Hunter and
Jason had a 4th
place finish,
Hunter in the
intermediate
class and Jason
in the amateur
class.
Jason Norman and
Justice Hayes
were also on
hand for the
TORN race and
both riders
enjoyed the
track. Jason got
his second win
in the Am class
while Justice
raced his first
ever cross
country race.
Jason extended
his points lead
and we expect he
should be able
to take this
championship
home. Justice
did super great,
this being a
very technical
track and his
first time ever
in the woods, he
was amazing. His
start was fair
and once the
nerves balance
out, he was all
throttle. So
congratulations
to you guys good
racing. Tyler
and Mathew had
the weekend off,
but it will be
game on next
weekend for the
last round of
the Full Moon
series.
So I also
decided to race
at Boyd and
after taking a 2
year leave from
even swinging a
leg over a bike
I must say I
miss it a lot. I
had more fun in
places then I
can remember,
but my super
hero fast pace
was crippled by
my old age, lack
of exercise and
my weak goon
riding. The
weather was
perfect and the
track was so
ideal I just
would have hated
to miss this
one. Eric Hayes
loaned me a
bike, I think
mostly because
he knew how much
I was going to
be hurting after
the race and
wanted to get
back at me for
having to buy
Cobra parts or
something.
Anyways, I felt
really good in
the practice and
rode what I
thought was a
reasonable pace
for not having
ridden in 2
years, but it
was painfully
clear when the
flag dropped
that I was going
to be the Goon
rider of the
race. Arms down,
legs like
butter, and a
butt like a
baboon was how
it ended, but I
did have a great
time and I’d
recommend that
anyone who
hasn’t ridden in
a while go out
and have some
fun, just
remember that
with age comes
wisdom, and
super heroes are
just cartoon
characters.
Sep 12 2007
Sept 8 This weekend
racing brought the
King Cobra race crew
to
Swan Mx
Park for 3 different
race series. The
action would start
early Saturday
morning with
Hunter Budd
taking his Cobra 65
to the gates for the
first time ever.
With little time on
the bike I was a
little nervous; If
Hunter was he never
showed it. I told
him to just work on
learning the clutch
and gears and even
if you take last
you'll win this
race. Well he did
better then I
thought he would
staying on pace, and
if he'd gotten
better out of the
gate he would have
done much better. We
we're pleased with
12th in the 65cc 7-9
class, but really
excited to see him
take the overall
with a 1-1 in the
50cc 7-8 class.
Later that night the
rest of the team
would begin to burn
up the track. Tyler
, Hunter, Mathew and
the team’s newest
4-6 class runner
Justice Hayes (COB
808) all had great a
great nights racing.
Justice had just
that night gotten
his replacement bike
after his was
stolen, and he
quickly took it to
the track for some
hot laps and some
quality results.
Justice posted a 1-1
in the O/I class for
the overall, but
Justice struggled
with soil samples to
finish with a 3-5 in
the 4-6 class for a
4th overall. Great
riding from a very
exciting kiddo to
watch ride.
Hunter Budd (Cob
399) had his hands
full as well taking
on a large field of
50 7-8 riders, with
Tyler
taking the holeshot
and the first moto
win, Hunter knew
what he had to do to
get the overall. So
he took the holeshot
and the win for the
overall in the 50cc
7-8,
Mathew Mahery
(COB 98) had some
bad luck in the 50cc
7-8 class with a
first turn crash he
charged back from
almost lapped to a
10th and followed it
up with a 2nd place
in the next moto, so
scratch out a 6th on
the night and save
many points for the
class. Tyler took
the 50 Open class
with a 1-1 with
Hunter having his
hands full with the
KTM of Zane Merrett
who took 2nd on the
night.
The following day
Hunter would race
the 65 open class
with just 1 other
rider in the class
it was a give me,
and Hunter got much
needed gate time.
The weekend was
action packed and
the point’s leads
have tightened up.
We're proud of all
our Sponsored riders
and look forward to
making good things
happen for them.
Sep 7 , 2007 Aug
25 With summer
winding down and
school on the radar
the King Cobra of
Texas team and
friends took a
little R&R. With no
moto’s to run we
decided to head out
to hurricane harbor
for some fun in the
sun. We all had a
blast it took a
while to get our sea
legs, but I’d say
the little dare
devils took to the
water like pro’s. We
took a chance on
every ride with a
little fear and
excitement, but
every new ride
became our new
favorite. It’s good
to get out and have
fun at other things,
and we all enjoyed
ourselves.
Aug 26 We all had
one last day till
school started, and
being the push over
I am, when the guys
ask to go to Six
Flags I gave in. So
off we went, we
spent the day riding
rides and wow these
dudes will ride
anything. After
talking me into the
rollercoaster called
the Titan I realized
two things. One the
boys have no fear,
and two that ride is
the most intense
experience I’ve ever
had. So the kiddoes
are back in school,
but racing series go
on. We have the
freestone national
coming up and we
couldn’t be more
anxious to get
there. Hunter and
Mathew will ride the
amateur race Friday
and we plan to have
a good show the rest
of the weekend.
Aug 31 Freestone
amateur racing came
to town the Friday
before the Pro
national. About 11
50cc racers showed
up to make history
and the racing was
close in the 50cc
Open class.
Mathew Mahery
(Cob 98) really took
the show in the 50cc
7-8 class, taking a
1-1 in convincing
fashion
Hunter Budd (Cob 399)
put in a respectable
ride taking 3rd
with a kid on a
Cobra out of
Louisiana taking 2nd.
In the 50 Open
Hunter had his hands
full with the 49
Cobra. Hunter
managed a few
Holeshots, but
struggled with jump
7 and the ruts,
leaving the door
open for the 49
Cobra to take the
overall. Hunter
ended with a 2nd
overall. Notable at
their race was Jason
Norman, he was a
completely different
racer. Jason took it
to another leave and
is he had not laid
it down a few times,
the 539 Cobra of
Jason Norman would
have had 3rd
overall.
Sept 1-2 This
weekend, the Pro
nationals came to
the completely new
venue at Freestone.
The racing was top
notch and we
couldn’t have been
more proud of Tony
miller for making
all this happened.
We got a chance to
see the best of the
best do their stuff.
Every turn and jump
added to the
amazement the kids
had watching the
Pro’s school the
contenders.
Villipoto and
Langton came out on
top, but there was
racing as deep as 20th.
The nationals will
return next year,
till then we’ll be
waiting in great
anticipation.
Aug 18, 2007 Full
Moon Series at
Village Creek,
sounded kind of funny
this weekend with all
the clouds and spotty
thunder storms, but the
track had the lights on
and it was time to race.
Lets talk front runners,
yep
Tyler Suddreth’,
Yep
Mathew Mahery,
and most certainly
Hunter Budd.
All
three where fast this
weekend. Hunter Budd had
his trigger fine tuned
at Village taking every
holeshot 4 for 4 with
impressive timing out of
the gate. Tyler and
Mathew would put on a
real show in the first
MOTO of the 50cc 7-8
class with a real tight
race that came down to
the last corner, and
Tyler edging out Mathew
at the last second. With
Mathew not racing the
open class it was the
all Hunter and Tyler
show with close action
as well with hunter
taking a 1-1 in the open
for a 1st
overall. Tyler has a
sizable lead in the
series in both classes,
so he’s not to worried.
The King Cobra of Texas
crew had a 1-2-3 sweep
in the 50cc 7-8 class,
and besting 4 Polini
bikes, 3 KTM bikes and
one of those PRC things.
Great riding from some
really great kids.
Aug 19, 2007
After the Full moon Race
we packed up and headed
to
Swan for the Lone
Star series, the morning
came early for everyone,
but the boys were ready
to race.
Hunter loves this
track and he really
liked the first 2 Motos
taking the wins in both
with
Tyler
close to keep him
honest, On the weekend
Hunter would end with 7
stright holeshots before
Tyler would take the
last one away from him.
Tyler really stepped up
when he needed to, the
old saying 2nd
moto wins the gold,
well
that’s was written all
over Tyler, because in
the 2nd moto
of both classes he took
off, leaving hunter to
give chase, Hunter had
trouble with his brakes
in the 2nd
moto of the 50cc 7-8 and
then laid the bike down
in a corner in the 50cc
open. No excuses though
Tyler was up front and
Hunter was chasing hard
to get him back. In all
good racing but a very
long weekend and I was
glad to get home.
August 14, 2007
Racing this weekend brought
the King Cobra crew to both
Corsicana and Athens . The
Corsicana race was a Cross
Country race with the
TORN ( Texas off Road
Nationals) It was going to
be a hot one, but also hot
were the Cobra bikes of
Hunter Budd and Jason
Norman. Both put together
wins for King Cobra of
Texas. Both riders proved
they had the race in the bag
about midway into the race.
Jason (Cob 539) had to work
to get past the Polini rider
but once he made the past it
was no looking back and only
looking forward to his first
ever win that is. So
congratulations to Jason
Norman on his first ever
win. Hunter Budd had an
excellent race as well,
putting together more laps
then any rider posting 7
laps and lapping the field,
at an amazing speed average
of 20.20 MPH with a best
lap of 3:07. He took the win
in commanding manner and
we’re happy to see the
points lead fire up in the
TORN series, 3 races to go
so Hunter will has his work
cut out if he wants to be on
the top box.
Next was
Athens, the new Athens
MX Park played host to the
Texas Full Moon series, with
many struggles out of the
gate it’s our hope they will
iron out the first race
issues and we’ll be able to
come again because the track
proved to be great. Up front
were the Cobra riders
Mathew Mahery
and
Tyler Suddreth,
both posting overall wins.
Mathew was on fire in the
deep sand, putting in a 1-1
for the 50SR 7-8 class while
it was Tyler putting his
Cobra on top in the Open. Of
note were the orange bikes,
Zane Merrett keeping Tyler
honest and taking a strong 2nd
in the Open class while
Colton Taylor was getting
his best finish to date in
the 7-8 class.
August 4, 2007 With the
rains coming down on Athens
(Full Moon Series) it was way
early to see them rained out,
but they did so we packed up the
King Cobra of Texas circus and
moved north the North 40 MX park
where they were putting on a
little Arena Cross racing. Not
many 50cc bikes on hand, in fact
just 4, but it was fun for the
kids. The first race 50cc7-8 had
some wheel to wheel action with
Hunter Budd in the lead and
Mathew Mahery
giving chase. The race for 3rd
was just as close, with Jason
Norman putting his Cobra in the
slot for every lap, but the last
one when Colton Taylor made the
pass for 3rd leaving
Jason to take 4th.
Hunter Budd was on fire tonight
taking 3 holeshots and all the
wins, for a 1st
overall in 50cc 7-8 and 50cc
Open. Mathew Mehary took a solid
second, but he was noticeably
fast and his jumps were perfect.
With Colton having some bike
trouble in the Open race, it
left the door open for Jason
Norman to make it a Cobra sweep
in both classes. In all it was a
fun evening of racing, no
pressure, no points, just riding
for fun and they had lots of it.
July 31, 2007 The racing
over the last few weekends has been
amazing, with each rider stepping it
up. It’s been such a privilege to
see our riders perform in the past
two weekends. King Cobra of Texas
riders have really been making the
50 class exciting.
Hunter Budd (Cob 399) has
stepped it up and the pressure is on
for
Tyler Suddreth (Cob 318), but
never count
Mathew Mahery (Cob 98) out
because he could also win at any
time.
The weekend of the 21st
brought Hunter Budd to Bowie Texas
to finally race the
TORN series, Hunter rode hard
but was only able to pull a second
place, but he did what he could with
so few cross country riding times of
lately. Once the TORN race was
completed, it was time to quickly
pack up and hit the road,
Badlands MX was next on the
schedule with the full moon series
in full swing the night brought on
some excellent upfront racing with
Tyler and Mathew really putting on a
show, but
Hunter Budd was on the charge to
keep them honest. With the series
resident Polini racer Hunter Poarch
on hand and the orange crush racer
Zane Marrett in the mix it was a
real fight for 3-5 and it could have
gone to any racer. In the end
Tyler Sudderth took the overall,
with
Mathew Mehary on his heals,
taking the 2nd. Hunter
Budd ended with 4th after
Hunter Poarch made the pass for 3rd.
In the Open class, Hunter Budd and
Zane Merrett really made it
interesting. Sudderth’ took the
overall, but the battle was for 2nd.
Hunter got the short end of the win,
but not due to lack of effort.
With Badlands finishing up at o to
darn late thirty it was off to
Village Creek for some Sunday
racing. We almost didn’t go because
it was such a late night, but we’re
glad we did. Not many showed up, but
Tyler, and
Hunter were good to go and with
them being regulars at Village their
familiarity showed as they swapped
the lead race after race. Zane was
on hand and with his KTM on the
fritz he was lucky that Sudderth had
a backup Cobra and for him it proved
to be a real hot ride as he got
faster with every ride. It was good
to see all 3 riders put on a show.
In the end it was Hunter with the
7-8 overall and Tyler with the open
overall. Great outings for both
racers.
The next weekend, July 28 2007 took
the King Cobra of Texas riders to
Village Creek again for the 4th
round of the Full Moon series. I
didn’t make this race because duties
on the work front took me to Puerto
Rico, but the calls I received after
the race proved I had missed another
crowd pleaser.
Hunter Budd has been practicing
a lot on his Cobra 65 and it would
seem the speed of the bigger bike is
following him, because he was on his
game. The 50 7-8 class had a King
Cobra sweep, with
Tyler taking 1st, Hunter a close
2nd and
Mathew taking 3rd. We
love to see our riders sweep the
class, it looks good on paper and it
feels great for the family’s and
kids. In the Open class the story
was reversed, Hunter Budd took the
lead and never looked back, with his
Uncle Mike and cousin Doug on hand
to watch I think it sparked a fire
for Hunter to set a blistering
speed, taking a 1-1 in the moto.
With Tyler scooping up the 2nd
place trophy we couldn’t be more
please with their performance.
15 Jul 07 I'd like to take a
moment to highlight some up and coming
racers in the north Texas area, At the
Buffalo Creek race, we had some
impressive Cobra O/I racers on the
track. In the 50cc O/I Cobra riders
swept the class, Justice Hayes (COB 808)
had an inspirational ride to a first
overall, keep an eye open for this
little guy he's on track. Coming in a
hard fought 2dn was Cobra rider Riley
Childress (COB 524) who had a 1-2 ride
with increasing speed. Coming up with a
solid 3rd was Riley Allen (COB 4) a very
little kid with a big heart and show
more speed. Look for all these Cobra
riders to be the next speedsters in the
years to come. Way to go guys!!
14 Jul 07
Well the weather yet again has cut our
racing short, With all the rain received up
north TORN had to postpone Bowie yet again.
The
Good news though is Buffalo Creek was on,
and so were the King Cobra of Texas racers.
With races rained out over the past few
weeks, the 50cc classes were chomping at the
bit to hit the track. In the 50cc Open and
50cc 7-8 the gate had many more then usual,
but it was the King Cobra of Texas crew
really standing out from the crowd,
Tyler Suddreth (COB 318) was on his game
taking the first holeshot and the win in the
50cc Open, with
Hunter Budd (COB 399) and Zane Merrett (KTM
118) really putting on a show with a tag
team fight for 2nd, Hunter ended up on top
with a gift from Zane, but it was
Mathew Mehary
(COB 98) taking to the track in the first
moto for the 50cc 7-8 class, the track saw
battles all around. Hunter Budd mixed it up
with KTM rider Zane Merrett and Pol rider
Hunter Poarch (POL 381), with Zane taking a
3-3 and the two hunters swapping 4th and
5th. At the end of the day (Which was way
late) Tyler Suddreth ended with 1st overall
in both classes, Mathew Mehary got a firm
2nd in the 50cc 7-8 and Hunter Budd received
2nd overall in the 50cc Open. King Cobra of
Texas is extremely proud of the work our
riders have put in over the past few races,
it's nice to see them all up front riding
hard.
10 Jul 07 Check out this
video of Mathew Mahary, #98 get off to a
great start and watch his teammate Hunter Budd,
#399 sweep in from the outside for the holeshot.
9 July 07 This weekends racing began with
complete uncertainty. The weather in Texas has been
stormy to say the least. With floods in just about
every corner of east Texas many races were rained
out. TORN canceled Bowie first, then Swan changed
the weekends events, canceling the FMF Full moon
series, but choose to host the Texas Lone Star
series on Sunday the 8th as planned. SO
with no other game in town it was off to swan where
the King Cobra of Texas riders put on a show. Mud
splashing excitement, might be a way to put it, with
the rains falling shortly after the first 50cc
class, Swan track officials did the best they could
to keep on schedule and keep the track ride able.
The first 7-8 class moto went to Gabriel coming out
of San Antonio, he’s improved a lot and it’s good to
see him up front and wish him luck at LL and Ponca,
he’s one fast kid. After the
rains came down though
Gabs family pulled out and headed home, leaving the
race to Tyler Sudderth. Hunter Budd and Mathew
Mehary to totally decimate and that’s what they did,
racing wheel to wheel, bar to bar, and peg to peg
each rider doing all they could to take the top
spot. In the end it would be Tyler Sudderth with the
overall in both classes, with Hunter Budd taking 2nd
overall with a moto win in the last moto of the
open. Mathew was very much in the mix as well taking
the third overall with some real tough racing. It’s
great to see a King Cobra sweep and look forward to
more
25 June
07 It was a rainy mid-week day when I got the call
from Cara Harmon with Holeshot, she wanted to tell us
about the class Sean Hackley and his dad were doing. We
told her sure, count us in and with storms looming in
the forecast we headed out to North 40 MX Park. After
the class we had a chance to hang out and talk with the
former Cobra racer and this
interview
is what came of that meeting.
24 June 07 The finial race of the FLY series came to
North Texas MX Park, with the points race locked in
already,
Mathew Mehary just needed to ride smart and remember
a series is a war not a battle, so he did just that.
Mehary rode smart knowing he just needed to finish to
take the overall series top trophies. So a big
congratulations to Mehary for his 2 series overalls,
winning the INT and Open overalls, But also were proud
of Hunter
Budd for his efforts in this series. Hunter was the Holeshot
king, taking just about every holeshot thought the
series, and taking some seat of your pants wins from
Mehary. This series had 2 other notable riders that were
just as fun to watch, Hunter Poarch (Pol 381 on that
Blue bike) and Colton Taylor (KTM 8 with the orange
one), both riders keep things honest. Hunter Poarch will
age out of 50s soon and we’ll miss the challenge from
him, Colton Taylor gets the most improved rider award
for sure, coming on strong in the later races, and
almost taking a Holeshot from the Holeshot king, but
there’s no picture evidence of this.
23 June 07 With all the rain outs lately and races
rescheduled to the same weekend, we were going to be
spending a lot of windshield time, but everything would
be doable. The weekend would start with TORN racing at
Gordon. Hunter had raced here before and was no stranger
to just how good this track would be. With Ben Otto and
Cayden Cox on hand to keep Hunter on his toes it was
going to be a real challenge. Hunter would end up
taking 3rd with some real close racing, he’ll
have to really put it together to reach the championship
in this series. On hand in the Beginner class was
another Cobra rider Jason Norman, who got his first ever
Holeshot and battled every lap to stay I the top 5.
Jason eventually ended with a 3rd, but had a
first place smile after the race. Congrats to him, good
job Jason.
Immediately after TORN we hit the road and made tracks
to the Badlands MX park, arriving just in time for
practice. We meet up with King Cobra of Texas riders
Tyler
Sudderth and Mathew Mehary and prepared for the show. It
was Tyler with the speed at badlands, running upfront in
every Moto taking the sweep, but not without some behind
the scenes racing, 2-5 all close battles With Mehary
making a cornering mistake, it left the door open for
Hunter Budd to pull into second followed closely by the
KTM of Colton Taylor, Mehary got back in the saddle and
laid down some fast laps, and just made the top 5. The
last Moto in the Open class Mehary was on the charge,
chasing Tyler as best as possible, but just fell short.
Hunter Budd, fell back to 4th but finished
with 2nd overall in both the 7-8 and open.
This made for a King Cobra of Texas sweep in the first
FMF night series. The end results were Tyler 1st,
Hunter 2nd and Mathew rounding out the top
honors and what a great night of racing.
King
Cobra of Texas Race Team is looking forward to the FULL MOON
Series that starts at
Badlands
MX Park this weekend 16 June 2007! Click on
the flyer for more information and check back for some King
Cobra Results!
Mathew Mehary (Cobra 98): The old saying goes” if
you can’t beat them join them” or more likely ask them to
join your team in this case, could be true, but we are super
stoked to add
Mathew Mehary to the final rooster spot, making the
lineup complete. Mehary brings to King Cobra of Texas a
complete list of top finishes and a support family structure
that is impressive. Like many top riders, Mathew is quiet
reserved and respectful. He lets his riding speak for him
and does it say volumes about his ability to put his Cobra
up front. So if you see yet another fast 50 and it says King
Cobra of Texas chances are they are in front.
12
June 07 After a night long drive to
North
Texas MX Park the tired riders prepared for what seemed
at first to be a muddy mess, with the rain that fell early
at the track, everyone was worried about the conditions. It
soon came clear that the track had been properly prepared
for the weather and the riders soon learned that a little
water on clay equals traction city.
Hunter and
Mathew
were the racers to beat again. Hunter took the Holeshots in
the motos and Mathew got the first moto wins in both the 50
INT and the 50 Open, but everyone knows it only counts in
the second moto, so Hunter put his throttle down and took
yet another spoiler from Mehary in a race that was again a
sight to see. Hunter got the overall and we couldn’t be more
happy.
11
June 07 Mother Nature finally cut Texas some slack and
the King Cobra of Texas race team was out in force. Saturday
it was the FMF series at
FreeStone MX Park. The racing was exciting as the usual
front runners set themselves apart from the crowded gate.
Tyler
Sudderth (Cob 318) put a show on, with
Mathew Mehary
(Cob 98) and Hunter
Budd (Cob 399) swapped roost a few times, But let’s not
leave out a most improved rider.
Brendon Bugg
(COB 512) who took it to the competition. Brendon just
spent some time in San Antonio doing a week long training
camp. Dad says he put many miles on the bike, but hey his
performance has doubled, and he’s soon becoming the holeshot
king. Taking it to the 4-6 class in typical winner style,
Brendan took a 1-1, beating out Caleb Weaver (Cob 4) for the
wins, with Justice Hayes rounding out the top spots.

28 May 07 The
all new CX65 is in house and if you’re in the DFW area, or at
the races, please look us up and we’ll set you up with a test
ride on the newest weapon available from Cobra. To read more
about the Cobra 65 click here!
26/27 May 07,
Rain , Rain go away the kids what to race today, but no luck.
The weather man had racing in Texas socked in. The rains came
and the cancellations followed. First the cross country series
TORN had to cancel because of well RAIN way to much Rain. Next
to follow was Village Creek, soon after Austin moved to Sunday
only to close the doors after the wet stuff came to visit the
next day as well. So we look to a future race on a drier day.
The rains did however provide a much needed break to allow work
on the trailer, Rv, and yes Hunters race bikes. All are good to
go now and I hope you and yours also had time to dial in those
repairs needed. Good racing to you all and see you on the track,
next time.
21 May
07, Please join us in welcoming one of the most well
mannered racers I’ve had the pleaser to meet.
Brendan Bugg
might be a little fellow but on the track he’s a very skilled
rider. We at King Cobra of Texas are excited to have Brendan in
house and look for him to achieve his goals. With some injuries
behind him, he’s ready for the new year of racing and King Cobra
will be there to support him. Good Racing to ya Bugg!
20 May
07, Racing was on at Nocona and the usual suspects were on
hand for some of the most exciting races for the Fly North Texas
Spring series to date.
The Cobras
of Mathew Mehary (Cob 98) and Hunter
Budd (Cob 399) were mixed in battles this weekend, swapping
the lead and racing wheel to wheel corner to corner. In the INT
class it was Mehary who to the top spot with Hunter Budd taking
a close second, Hunter Poarch was on the line with his blue big
and was also a tough customer.
In the Open
it was Hunter Budd with the first Moto win and the next moto
battle was epic, Hunter and Mehary mixed it up from flag to flag
with hunter Budd making the pass back for 1st on the
last corner. This has been a great series and the racing has
been exciting for the front runners.
We’d like to
give a shot out to Colton Taylor (KTM 8) he’s really stepped it
up this week, an we look for some strong racing from him in the
future. Also Cobra racer Jason Norman (Cob 539) has really been
developing in leaps and bounds he’s new to racing, but has some
solid skills. Congratulations guys you’ve come a long way this
season already.
19 May
07, First I’d like to apologize to the Cobra riders we
support in the DFW are, we had to miss out on Village Creek
because of some family issues. We do hope this didn’t cause any
grief with the racing efforts of those who we support.
Tyler Sudderth
(Cob 318) was at Village Creek MX Park for some 50cc racing and
for the Open Class it was the all Tyler show, sweeping both
motos with a 1-1. In the 7-8 class Tyler and Belding had a bit
of a race, with the first moto going to Belding and Tyler having
a racing incident (Crashed) it was Belding with the overall and
Tyler racing back with a 8th overall.
6 May 07,
Racing was on for the
Fly North Texas Spring Series
race at North Forty,
Hunter Budd was on hand after a week off turkey hunting.
Competition this weekend was tough. Mathew Mehary on his Cobra
has been a tough customer to get a win from,
Hunter had the
jump again racking in the Holeshots, but struggling with a top
podium finish. In the INT
Hunter rode to a
2nd overall and in the Open he scrapped out a 3rd
overall in the INT with a real hard battle with Hunter Poarch on
his (POL). With
Hunter missing a race in the series, it puts him in
the spoiler mode for the rest of the series, but with Mehary and
Poarch riding so well lately it’s going to be a good series.
5 May 07,
King Cobra of Texas riders had the day off after, several events
were rained out, it’s that time of year in Texas .
28 Apr 07:
Saturday had some very productive racing for King Cobra of Texas.
We're proud to announce that King Cobra of Texas won every race they
entered this weekend. Kilgore (Cob 314) went to the TORN (Texas Off
Road nationals) at Buffalo Creek, with Hunter Budd off this weekend,
Christian stepped up to the challenge, Normally being a MX racer,
taking it to the woods came quick and Christian took it flag to
flag. Taking the win Great job Christian enjoy the HoleShot tee
shirt.
Out at Village creek
the action was also exciting, Mathew Mehary (Cob 98) and Hunter
Poarch (Pol 381) were on hand to keep King Cobra of Texas rider
Tyler Sudderth
honest, but it was Tyler who took 4 HoleShots and 4 Wins in the
motos for 7-8 stock and open. We'd like also to recognize Brendan
Bugg (Cob 29), he's new to the crew and picked up a solid win in the
4-6 stock class. He was riding hard and looked great on the bike.
Hunter Budd was off
this weekend, but will be back on track next weekend.
May has some great racing scheduled and we look forward to
supporting our racers. May 6th will have a warm up at swan for the
Top Texan series, also The
Fly North
Texas Spring Series will be held at North Forty. King Cobra of
Texas wishes all our riders good luck as we take it to the track.
23 Apr 07: King
Cobra of Texas Racers will be preparing for the weekends races
through the week.
Tyler Sudderth (Cob 318) will contest the FMF night series at
Village Creek MX and Christian Kilgore (Cob 214) will be at Oak Hill
to begin his road to Ponca City.
Hunter Budd (Cob 399)
will be off this weekend for a little spring hunting for Turkey
21 Apr 07: Racing
was wide open this weekend as the King Cobra of Texas riders took it
to the track.
Kilgore was at Swan for
the Loretta Lynn's qualifier. His performance on the new Cobra
CX50Sr is improving. Kilgore took a solid 3rd overall in the 50cc
7-8 stock class. Christian Kilgore has qualified for the youth
regional at Cycle Ranch, which will be his next step on the way to
Loretta's.
Hunter and Tyler both
took on the Badlands MX park with their Night National series warm
up. Racing was close and both preformed well, Tyler took his Cobra
to 2nd over all with a fierce wheel to wheel battle. Hunters results
and speed has also increased in the resent races and this was no
exception. With a mechanical error in the first Moto (I forgot to
tighten the back wheel locks) Hunter still took a 5th overall in the
50cc 7-8 class. Both Hunter and Tyler rode the 50cc Open and took
the top 2 spots on the box.
22 Apr 07:
Hunter Budd (Cob 399) also went to Nocona MX Park to race the FLY
night series, where the racing was also good. Mathew Mehary (Cob
98)was there with his Cobra and put on a good show with Hunter.
Hunter took the Holeshot all 4 times and Mehary took 3 out of 4
wins, with Hunter taking the last race win.
17 Apr 07:
This weekend was full of racing action, and King Cobra riders were in the mix.
Saturday Hunter Budd 399 started his day at Village Creek racing the TORN 50
expert class. Hunter took the holeshot and lead the first lap, before Ben Otto
took the lead with Hunter battling back before lap end. Once lappers started
to be a factor the lead changed hands again, with Otto out front, Hunter and
Cayden Cox battled for 2nd, eventually lappers would play a major part in the
wooded area and Hunter would get passed to finish out 3rd overall. Good clean
racing and fun to watch.
Later that night Freestone kicked off the FMF Night Series, with some real
talent on hand for some 50cc racing. King Cobra of Texas riders Tyler Sudderth
(318) and Hunter Budd (399) were putting on a good race in the 50cc 7-8 and 50cc
Open. Tyler had solid results placing 3rd overall in the 50cc 7-8 and a 2nd
overall in the Open. Front runners were Missouri racers Austin Forkner (Cob 214)
and JM Belding (Cob 615) 2 off the fastest 50 riders around. Hunter finished
with a respectable 6th and 5th.
Notable on the night was Christian Eubanks (Cob 187) riding the new CX65 COBRA
65 in the 65cc 7-11 Open. Eubanks took a bone stock Cobra 65 to the front with a
1 - 1 for the overall in a very impressive race. The Cobra 65 looked and sounded
very strong. Congrats to Eubanks for putting the Cobra 65 on the top spot.

like to welcome our newest racers: Tyler Sudderth, 318
Suddrerth is a well known name to the
local Texas scene, with consistence performance
in the 50cc class. Tyler's local results speak
volumes for the efforts he's made with his
racing program in the DFW area. We look for
Tyler to continue with his top performance and
show North Texas tracks that he has the goods.
So please Welcome Tyler Sudderth 318 and look

7 Apr 07: King Cobra of Texas riders took on
the cold and snow at
Village
creek
for the
Loretta Lynn qualifier. The weather
had a winter mix in store for the racers at
Village creek and with the snow coming down it
was time to race. The competition was great to
see, with Belding coming back after an 8 week
injury with no loss of speed taking the top spot
in both motos. Christian Kilgore gave it a hard
go with only a very few hours on his new Cobra
and had a good showing closing the books with a
solid 4th overall and getting a seat in the
regional. Hunter on the other hand really had a
hard time copping with the cold and fell way off
pace, Notables were also Zane Merrett 118 who
had a good first moto, but lost his seat in the
next, also Alec Mellick 201 had a 2nd in the
first moto, but had trouble in the next moto and
couldn't seal the deal. King Cobra racer Tyler
Sudderth was not on had, but we'll see him on
the track next weekend for the FMF opener at
Freestone.
5 Apr 07: King Cobra of Texas' riders will
be headed to
Village
creek this weekend where they will be
running
Area Qualifiers
for the
Air Nautiques AMA Amateur National Championships
at the legendary Loretta Lynn's Ranch in scenic
Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Good luck
guys!

Mar 07: The
2007 Fly
North Texas Spring series kicked off with
great weather and a perfect track at
North
Texas MX. With a few notable riders on hand
in the 50cc class the racing would prove to be
interesting. Mathew Mehary (Cob 98) came out
slugging in the first 50cc INT class with a win,
Rider 13 (KTM) was in the mix and
Hunter Budd (Cob
399) finished the top spots, but it would be
Hunter after a few laps on a new track to dial
in the rest of the 50cc class Open and INT was a
sweep from then on. Holeshot to checker with
Hunter finishing with a 2nd overall
in 50cc INT and a 1 |
